H+U partnered with Meyer Contracting, Inc. to reconstruct Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis between Grant Street and Washington Avenue. Several of the distinct areas within the mall serve a multitude of functions from public gathering, performance, and event spaces, to recreational and scenic walkways. Site finishes included the Light Walk Armatures, Theater In the Round, and various Seat Walls spanning several blocks of the Nicollet Mall.

H+U’s work required close coordination and scheduling with the City, building owners, prime contractor, and other stakeholders. Detailed phasing plans were developed to minimize traffic, business, and event disruptions. Community engagement was essential including working directly with the City’s art coordinator, downtown council, and businesses along the construction route.
