H+U Construction and CNH Architects served as the Design-Builder for the new construction of a $4.1M YMCA Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) on the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities East Bank Campus, completed in Summer 2021. The new on-campus daycare provides a much-needed childcare option in the heart of Dinkytown, including four preschool rooms, one transition room, three toddler rooms, two infant rooms, kitchen, enrichment room, meeting room, office, and outdoor playground while accommodating up to 146 children.

H+U provided the University a collaborative, cost conscious, flexible team that could quickly adjust to Stakeholder requests. An accurate gross maximum price (GMP) was developed from drawings and information prior to bidding. Throughout construction, H+U and CNH adjusted plans to accommodate requests from Stakeholders including additional storm water containment measures, floor plan changes, coordination of Owner provided items, and room finish changes. The project was successfully completed on schedule and within the original GMP.
